Watch: RA - "Bloodline" (official video)

The post-punk quintet RA from Malmö, Sweden are set to release their debut EP Bloodline on June 12 via Double Sun Recordings (who co-released YAST's brilliant debut LP earlier this year). RA was only formed last year and their demos made the rounds online last year.

Bloodline is the first proper release from the band and it was recorded and mixed by Joakim Lindberg of fellow Malmö act MF/MB/. The title track from the EP is a brilliant piece of psychedelic post-punk and judging by this first taste from the band it would come as no surprise to see their career following a similar career arch as Holograms and Iceage before them. They've certainly got the quality.

Check out the video for "Bloodline", by Simon Minó and Emma Karlsmark Elfstrand, below - plus grab yourself an mp3 using the Soundcloud widget as well.

Full album stream: Freddie Dickson - Shut Us Down EP

London artist Freddie Dickson released his debut EP Shut Us Down this Monday via the ever-excellent Heart Throb Records and it's certainly a special one. All four tracks are more than just impressive, with the break-up-lamenting "The End" being a particular highlight. Worth noting is that the production on the EP is made by another debutante, namely London producer John Davies and both Davies and Dickson are sure to have a bright future ahead of them.

Listen to the full EP below and head over to Heart Throb Records' Bandcamp site to order your copy.

Listen: Pølterghøst - "Holy Smoke"

If you've been following this blog for a while you'll know that one of my absolute favourite bands of last year was the London indie rock band Fanzine who released a string of absolutely brilliant singles and stand-alone tracks. It's been pretty quiet around Fanzine for some time now and today The Line of Best Fit posted a track from a new band called Pølterghøst.

As it turns out, Pølterghøst is the new project from half of Fanzine, Jock Norton and Kit Jennings, and, as expected, I'm a huge fan of their debut track "Holy Smoke". It's a shade more extravagant than Fanzine's laid-back slacker power pop - and there's way more lead guitar, think more Suede (as Best Fit points out) than Teenage Fanclub. Anyhow, it's great and you should listen to it, although it probably means we won't get to hear that forthcoming Fanzine debut LP.

Listen: MANS - "Various Lovers"

London four-piece MANS debuted earlier this year with the "Strict Face" / "Mellow Magic Marker" 7" on Teeth Records and now their back with new track "Various Lovers". It's a groovy Prince-indebted funk workout - and it's awesome. Check it out below and stay tuned for info on their debut LP which is due later this year.

MP3: Crushed Beaks - "Tropes"

London duo Crushed Beaks released their debut single back in 2011, followed it with "Grim" and the "Breakdown"/"Horror Shorts" single last year and now they're finally set to release their debut EP Tropes on September 16 via ASL Records. Today the title track from the EP was released and it's a brilliant one, mixing indie rock with catchy punk. Check it out below, and if you're lucky you'll get a free download of the track as well (only 100 available).

Listen: Wilsen - "Dusk"

You might remember us posting about New York act Wilsen, who just finished a short tour opening for Daughter, and their brilliant single "Anahita" a couple of months back. If not, go check it out, listen to "Anahita", be amazed, and then head back here. Good huh? On June 10 they're releasing a new single titled "Dusk" which comes with a cover of Grimes' "Oblivion" as the b-side.

Where "Anahita" was a brilliant mix of post-rock and folk, led by the vocals of English-born Tamsin Wilson, "Dusk" focuses more on the folk side of the project. And well, it's probably one of the best folk tunes you've heard in a while. Check it out below.

Listen: Wolf Alice - "Every Cloud"

Wolf Alice is without a doubt one of the most exciting bands at the moment and on May 20 they're releasing their new 7" single "Bros" via Chess Club Records. We've already heard the excellent a-side and now we've got the b-side "Every Cloud" as well, a more ambient-minded track which showcases yet another side of the band. And it's just as good as we've come to expect from Wolf Alice. Listen below.

Listen: Selebrities - "Temporary Touch"

Selebrities released their debut LP Delusions in 2011 and last year they released the excellent "Night Heat" 7". Earlier this year they shared a Valentine's Day cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Everything" and now they've finally unveiled the first single from their upcoming second record. The LP is titled Lovely Things and it's set for release on June 25 via Cascine, and the brilliant first single "Temporary Touch" is available for listening below.
