Curren$y to release Muscle Car Chronicles on March 15

As we've previously reported Curren$y has signed with Warner Bros and will make his debut with them on April 20 with Covert Coup. Before that he'll release his last album with Def Jam on March 15, entitled Muscle Car Chronicles, which will come with an accompanying movie. It'll be a busy year for Curren$y who's also got the third instalment in his Pilot Talk series coming out, and judging by the Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II from last year it'll be another great year for the New Orleans rapper. View the cover art for Muscle Car Chronicles by David Barnett with the tracklist below.

The Shoes - Stay The Same feat. ESSER

It's Friday. Time to party!

Recommendation of the week: Kasabian

One of my absloute favoutite bands is Kasabian. I saw them live at last years T In The Park festival in Scotland and MY GOD; they are absolutely amazing live! This week I have been having a Kasabian week and I must confess that they are growing on me the more I listen to them. They have so far released a total of three full-length studio albums:

Kasabian (2004) (Spotify)
Empire (2006) (Spotify)
West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009) (Spotify)

Their first self-titled album is in my opinion the best one and after that West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. It is said that Kasabian are now working on their forth album which is supposed to be released later in 2011.

Here below comes a sample of my favourite tracks by Kasabian. The three first songs is taken from the first album and the last one "Fire" is a track from their latest album. Enjoy!

"Club Foot"

"Processed Beats"

"Reason Is Treason"

"Fire"

Birds Need Feet is going to Those Dancing Days gig tomorrow at Debaser Medis in Stockholm

The whole crew of birdsneedfeet.blogspot.com are attending Those Dancing Days gig at Debaser Medis in Stockholm tomorrow. I personally like them a lot so I believe that it's going to be a great night! Those Dancing Days have developed a lot since their first single "Hitten" that's a really sweet pop-song, in comparison to their latest released single "Fuckarias". It was released the 30th of November 2010 and it's much tougher than the songs from the debut album In Our Space Hero Suites from 2008. They've developed a rock sound, and I do think that it's pretty good. Can't wait 'til they release their new album Daydreams And Nightmares now on the 25th of February!

I've been longing to go to one of their concert for a while now, so I'm really excited about tomorrow. Hopefully, my co-bloggers feels the same way. Of course you will get a review, and hopefully some photos too.

Odd Future perform "Sandwitches" on Fallon with The Roots

Tyler, The Creator and Hodgy Beats of Los Angeles hip-hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (or just Odd Future) made their television debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night and performed Tyler, The Creator's solo single "Sandwitches" with a little help from The Roots. This performance has been pretty much unanimously praised and it's definitely one of the best, and weirdest, television performances I've seen. See for yourself.

Yes, that was Mos Def at the end.

New Booker T. Jones album to feature The Roots, Lou Reed, Jim James and Matt Berninger, out May 10

Soul legend Booker T. Jones was supported by Athens, Georgia alt. country/rock band Drive-By Truckers on his latest album, 2009's instrumental Potato Hole, and this time he's hooked up with hip-hop band The Roots instead. Conclusion: Booker T.'s got pretty awesome taste when it comes to choosing bands for his albums. The Roots are currently the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and they're definitely one of the most skilled bands out there today, and as if that wasn't enough to get me excited Lou Reed, My Morning Jacket's singer Jim James (aka Yim Yames) and The National's singer Matt Berninger will also appear on the album.

Booker T. Jones is mostly known as the frontman of Booker T. & The MGs and as the leader of Stax Records' house band in the '60s. His new album is called The Road From Memphis and it's produced by The Roots' drummer Questlove and Rob Schnapf (who produced Potato Hole, but is most known for his work with Elliott Smith and Beck). The Road From Memphis is out on May 10 via ANTI- Records.

Tracklist:
01 Walking Papers
02 Crazy
03 Progress (with Jim James)
04 The Hive
05 Down in Memphis
06 Everything Is Everything
07 Rent Party
08 Representing Memphis (with Matt Berninger and Sharon Jones)
09 The Vamp
10 Harlem House
11 The Bronx (with Lou Reed)

NME video exclusive - "Sun In The Island" by Swimming

A few weeks back I posted a video of the british band Swimming where they performed an acoustic version of their new single "Sun In The Island". I was stunned by how good that performance was. Now you can watch the album version of the song exclusively on NME's website here.

Fenech-Soler, one of the greatest new electro-pop bands today?

Fenech-Soler is a majestic pop-electro-disco band from Kings-Cliffe, Northamptonshire, that I've been listening to a lot lately. In my opinion the album, also called Fenech-Soler, just gets better and better the longer you listen to it. You can say that the album is kind of escalating; they deliver one amazing electro-pop tune after another. So, one of the greatest, new electro-pop bands today? In my opinion, totally. After Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, of course.

Here you can listen, and love, one of the best songs from their album:

"Stop And Stare"

Listen to the whole album on Spotify here.

Photos: Bright Eyes + First Aid Kit, Live at Debaser Medis, Stockholm, Sweden 2011.02.16

I went to see Bright Eyes supported by First Aid Kit last night at Debaser Medis here in Stockholm, and took a few pictures during the show. First Aid Kit were a great opening act and Bright Eyes were really good, for some reason I wasn't expecting them to be a great live band but they were. So here's my non-professional and non-edited pictures from last night.

Stream Yuck's self-titled debut album in full

British indie rockers Yuck are one of those band's that could be unfairly tagged with "revival" or "retro" and can't lost among the less-than-good artists who usually fits those terms. Not that Yuck aren't sounding like they wished it was 1992, a lot, where the main references would be Dinosaur Jr. and Pavement, but there's traces of a whole lot of other late '80s/early '90s indie rock bands.

I was ready to dismiss Yuck but I've definitely been converted by the actual music which stands up to the sound and their newly released debut lp belongs among the best albums of the year (while having one of the ugliest album covers, the evidence is above). You shouldn't take my word for it though - stream the entire thing yourself over at Spinner. Yuck is out on Fat Possum Records now.

The Felice Brothers sign to Fat Possum, new album coming soon

Folk rock/country/americana band The Felice Brothers have joined the roster of Oxford, Mississippi-based indie label Fat Possum Records and will release their first album on their new label this spring. The album will be their fifth according to the "official" count but The Felice Brothers' discography aren't the easiest one to navigate, and other counts would call it their eighth album.

Personally I'm very excited about a new album from the band considering the consistent high quality of their previous release and according to Fat Possum more info "will be confirmed shortly". The band will be touring the US in between late March and early May, with four shows in Australia and one in New Zealand thrown in for good measure, and Paste Magazine got the full tour dates for you here.

MP3: Middle Brother - "Middle Brother"

A couple of days ago I wrote about Middle Brother's cover of The Replacements' "Portland" which is the third song they've released from their upcoming album, with the first one being "Me, Me, Me" and the second one being released exclusively through their iPhone app. That second song is now available for the rest of us and it's the album's title track "Middle Brother", which you can download below (there's a stream of "Portland" and an mp3 of "Me, Me, Me" in the aforementioned post from last week). Middle Brother is out on March 1 via Partisan Records.

Drive-By Truckers perform "Everybody Needs Love" on Fallon

Drive-By Truckers released their ninth studio album Go-Go Boots yesterday and celebrated the release with an excellent performance of "Everybody Needs Love" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. "Everybody Needs Love" was written by, and originally recorded by, American soul musician Eddie Hinton who was a major inspiration for Go-Go Boots. You can download an mp3 of "Everybody Needs Love here, read my review of Go-Go Boots here, and stream the entire album via Spinner.

Thanks to The Audio Perv for the video.

Date set for Death Cab For Cutie's 7th album

It is now confirmed that American indie rockers Death Cab For Cutie are about to follow-up their 2008 release Narrow Stairs. A date is now set for the new album titled Codes And Keys on the 31st May. According to frontman Ben Gibbard the guitars won't be as dominating on this record as they have been before. Instead they have been working a lot more with keyboards. I'm very curious about the result but I must wait until May to hear it!

Okkervil River perform "Weave Room Blues" on Fallon

In January Okkervil River guested Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and performed "Wake And Be Fine" from their upcoming album I Am Very Far, which is out on May 10 via Jagjaguwar. After the regular show they also performed a previously unreleased track called "Weave Room Blues" which has now been made available online, and you can view the video below. "Weave Room Blues" won't be on I Am Very Far but will be released as a b-side instead, according to Late Night's website.

Stream new Timber Timbre song, "Black Water"

As we mentioned back in January Canadian folk outfit Timber Timbre will be releasing their fourth album Creep On Creepin' On on April 5 via Arts & Crafts (album cover above). They've now released a track from the album for our listening pleasure, namely track number four which is called "Black Water", and you can stream it below.

Radiohead announce new album, out on Saturday

Radiohead's got a knack for doing the unexpected, don't they? The pay-what-you-want release of In Rainbows in 2007 changed the music world in many ways and today they announced the release of their eight studio album just five days before its release. The album is called The King Of Limbs and will be out digitally on Saturday the 19th, with a physical release in the form of a "newspaper album" which will be shipped on May 9.

The "newspaper album" will include "two clear 10" vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve", a cd, "many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together" and a digital download of the album on February 19. For full information and pre-order, go here.

UPDATE: according to a tweet by XL Recordings the album will be out on CD and 12" vinyl on March 28.

Song of the day; Chapel Club - All The Eastern Girls

My train was delayed and cancelled a couple of times this morning, I waited on the platform for 50 minutes in -17 degrees. Loads of fun. But I managed by listening to these guys and their new album. Listen and love!

New Foo Fighters - first song from the upcoming album

Foo Fighters will be releasing their seventh studio album this year and they've now released the first full track from the album via their YouTube channel. The song is called "White Limo" and is a bit heavier than what we're used to from Foo Fighters, but it's actually really good and you can listen to it below, and watch the suitable fucked up video.

UPDATE: the album will be out on April 8 according to the Swedish branch of Sony Music.
