Video: Papercuts - "Do You Really Wanna Know" (official music video)

Papercuts' Fading Parade is one of my absolute favourite records of the year so far, but this seems to be the first time they get covered on here, and it's due to them releasing a new video for "Do You Really Wanna Know". "Do You Really Wanna Know" is the opening track on Fading Parade and it was co-written by Papercuts leader Jason Robert Quever and Donovan Quinn of The Skygreen Leopards/Donovan Quinn & The 13th Month. Check out the video below, and right-click here to download an mp3 of the track.

Stream: Ryan Adams - "Shine Through The Dark"

A few weeks ago I posted streams of Ryan Adams' new 7" single for the self-penned "Empty Room" and Alice In Chains' "Nutshell", and here's another new original track for all the fans. "Shine Through The Dark" is Adams' contribution to Live From Nowhere Near You, Volume 2 and it is reportedly the first track he wrote after his retirement, and should definitely please fans who feel that his post Jacksonville City Nights work doesn't quite cut it. Stream it below.

MP3: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - "Tigers"

Little over a month ago we got the first treat from the upcoming Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks album Mirror Traffic with "Senator", and now we've got a second track for you: the album opener "Tigers". Download the track below and be sure to check out Mirror Traffic when it's released via Matador on August 23.

Video: The War On Drugs - "Baby Missiles" (official music video)

In early May The War On Drugs announced the release of their upcoming second album, Slave Ambient, and shared an mp3 of the track "Baby Missiles". They've now also released a video for "Baby Missiles", directed by Labour and produced by Greencard Pictures, which you can watch below. The press release had this to say about the video:
"The video is culled and edited from The War On Drugs’ main man Adam Granduciel’s collection of super 8 film footage. The kaleidoscopic work throughout finds its raw source material in Granduciel’s experimental medium format photography, the very same exposed film featured on the artwork for Slave Ambient."

MP3: Cymbals Eat Guitars – "Rifle Sight (Proper Name)"

As we reported in early June Brooklyn-indie rockers Cymbals Eat Guitars are set to release their second full-length, titled Lenses Alien, and they've now released a first track from it. It's the 8-minute opening track "Rifle Sight (Proper Name)" and they've also graciously decided to move up the release from September 13/14 to August 30 in North America. Download the track in exchange for an e-mail using the widget below.

Sharon Van Etten signs to Jagjaguwar, LP3 in 2012

Here's some welcome news; the extremely promising singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten has joined the already excellent artist line-up at Jagjaguwar and will release her third record in 2012. Van Etten released her second album Epic last year on Ba Da Bing and has shown herself to be a very accomplished songwriter and she is working with The National guitarist Aaron Dessner on her upcomin LP3, making it even more exciting. Check back for more news as we get closer to the release of the album.

Death From Above 1979 summer and fall tour dates

I want to remind you about the band that stopped playing 5 years ago and have now decided to make a comeback. Stream: Pusha T - "Trouble On My Mind" (feat. Tyler, The Creator)

Earlier this year Pusha T released his long delayed Fear Of God mixtape and on August 23 he'll release the follow-up ep Fear Of God 2: Let Us Pray and it'll feature this collaboration with Odd Future's Tyler, The Creator. With both Pusha T and Tyler being two of the most talked about rappers out there at the moment, and production from The Neptunes, "Trouble On My Mind" is one of the most anticipated hip-hop tracks of the summer and you can check it out below. They've also recorded a video for the track which will be released in the coming week.

Stream: The Tallest Man On Earth - "Weather Of A Killing Kind"

Last week I posted Mastodon's contribution to the Adult Swim Singles Program and this time it's Swedish folk singer-songwriter The Tallest Man On Earth who shares "Weather Of A Killing Kind". You can stream "Weather Of A Killing Kind" below right now, and on July 12 it'll be available for free download from the Adult Swim website.

While it's being marketed as a new song it was actually released as a bonus track on the Swedish iTunes version of The Tallest Man On Earth's second lp, The Wild Hunt, in 2010 but this marks the first wider release of the track.

Video: Balto - "Kirov Factory" (live)

New York folk rockers Balto recently released their first single "The Railyard", which is taken from their debut album October's Road, and is downloadable here. A few months ago Balto performed at Arlene's Grocery in New York and they've now released a live video of "Kirov Factory" from that gig, which you can watch below (go here to download the studio version of the track).

Balto are heading out for their first US/Canada tour in a couple of days so make sure to check out the tour dates here, and if you're unfamiliar with the band you can check out my "Introducing..."-piece here.
