Video: Portual. The Man perform "So American" on Conan 29/9

Psychedelic indie pop band Portugal. The Man made their national television debut last night on Conan O'Brien's show and performed the track "So American" from their newest album In The Mountain In The Cloud, which was released on Atlantic Records in July. The performance both looked at sounded great and you can view it below, and if you haven't given the record a spin yet it's definitely recommended.

Video: Okkervil River - "Your Past Life As A Blast" (official music video)

Ryan Adams announce European tour

This isn't brand new, a couple of the dates have been out for awhile and the rest followed on Monday but the new ones are going on sale this Friday so I figured I'd post them anyway. Ryan Adams toured Europe in June, his first tour in years, and he's set to return in November in support of his great new album Ashes & Fire (which you can listen to here) and he'll be visiting the UK, France, Belgium and Scandinavia during the trip. Check out the full European tour dates below and visit Adams' PAX AM site for ticket info.

Video: Wooden Shjips - "Lazy Bones"

San Francisco psych rockers Wooden Shjips released their new record West on Thrill Jockey in August and a few days ago they unveiled the brainmelting video for "Lazy Bones", directed by Brooklyn experimentalists Black Dice. Watch the headache-inducing video, which is filled with bright colours and moves at a breakneck speed, below.

Video: Ryan Adams perform three tracks for Dutch radio

Earlier today I posted videos of Ryan Adams performing "Lucky Now" on Dutch tv this Monday and on that same day he also guested the Dutch radio channel 3FM and performed "Ashes & Fire", "Lucky Now" and Iron Maiden's "Wasted Years". If you haven't heard Adams' cover of "Wasted Years" earlier you're in for a treat - it works far better than you'd expect. Thankfully the radio station decided to film the session so we've got video too, and the session is definitely worth both hearing and seeing. Check out all three videos below and if you haven't heard it yet you should head over here and give Adams' new album Ashes & Fire a listen.

MP3: Korallreven - "As Young As Yesterday" (Girl Unit remix)

Two weeks ago I posted Korallreven's new single "As Young As Yesterday" which features Taken By Trees vocalist Victoria Bergsman, and one week ago I posted Panda Bear's remix of track and today it's time for Girl Unit's remix. Both remixes are taken from the 12" single where they appear together with the original version and a track called "Final Fantasy", and it's out now on Acéphale. While the Panda Bear remix didn't really make much of an impression on me Girl Unit's remix fares far better, being a much more interesting and satisfactory listen. Check it out below.

Stream: Tom Waits - "Back In The Crowd"

Tom Waits released the title track, and first teaser, from his upcoming album Bad As Me in late August and yesterday he released a second track from the album in the form of "Back In The Crowd". Where "Bad As Me" was in the classic unhinged rocking style that no one can pull off like Waits "Back In The Crowd" is a quieter ballad, something that Waits is just as good at. Judging by these two tracks Bad As Me is going to be worth the long wait. Give "Back In The Crowd" a listen below.

Video: Arctic Monkeys perform "Reckless Serenade" on Leno 26/9

Monday night was a pretty good night for television performances, huh? We've already posted videos of Fleet Foxes and Ryan Adams and here comes a third in Arctic Monkeys' guestspot on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. The band chose to perform Suck It And See standout "Reckless Serenade" and you can view the performance below, featuring a new haircut for Alex Turner (new to me that is, I don't keep up so it might be old).

Full album steam: Tyler Ramsey - "The Valley Wind"

I've previously posted two tracks from Band Of Horses guitarist Tyler Ramsey's new solo album The Valley Wind; the title track and "The Nightbird", but now you can stream the full album over at Spinner. Ramsey's solo work doesn't sound much like Band Of Horses, except for the fact that they both work in the indie/folk/rock area of music and it carries great resemblance to the acoustic work of Neil Young and Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon/Red House Painters).

Video: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - "If I Had A Gun..."

It's been almost a month since Noel Gallagher's US debut single "If I Had A Gun..." premiered and a few days ago the video for the track was unveiled, and you can watch it below. "If I Had A Gun..." is one of three singles released, in different territories, from Noel Gallagher's debut solo album with the other two being "The Death Of You And Me" and "AKA... What A Life!". The album is called Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and will be released via his own Sour Mash Records on October 17.

The 15 date tour will to England, The Netherlands, Scandinavia, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium and Fruit Bats are bringing along Seattle folkie Grant Olsen aka Gold Leaves as support. Olsen will be the special guest on the last ten dates of the tour and he'll be performing solo in support of the excellent new Gold Leaves lp The Ornament (out now on Hardly Art). Check out the full tour dates below.

MP3: Balto - "Elizabeth The Bumblebee"

New York-based folk rockers Balto are probably the best unsigned band out there at the moment, at least to my knowledge, and in June they released their first UK single in the form of "The Railyard" and a few days ago they released "Elizabeth The Bumblebee" as the second one. Both tracks are taken from their debut lp October's Road, a very impressive album that deserves far more attention than it's been given and belong among the best folk rock albums of 2011. Download an mp3 of "Elizabeth The Bumblebee" in exchange for an e-mail address, or just stream it, below.

Video: Fleet Foxes perform "Grown Ocean" on Letterman 26/9

Fleet Foxes released what is probably my favourite album of 2011 in May in Helplessness Blues and I'm seeing them live for the second time this year when they tour Europe with Alela Diane in November. On Monday night the band guested Late Show with David Letterman to perform album closer "Grown Ocean", check out a video of the performance below.

Video: Ryan Adams perform "Lucky Now" on Dutch Television 26/9

Ryan Adams' new album Ashes & Fire will be released on October 11 but you can listen to the full album right now, and Adams is currently in Europe to promote the album, and on Monday night he guested a Dutch tv show to perform the album single "Lucky Now". We've got two videos for you below, the first one being a full performance of "Lucky Now" which was shot before the actual show and a shorter one from the show with a very short interview and Adams performing a one and a half minute long version of "Lucky Now". Watch both videos below.

Justin Townes Earle announce solo European tour

Last year Justin Townes Earle released one of the best records of the year with Harlem River Blues and he's still touring behind it, and yesterday he announced a nine-date solo acoustic tour of Europe for November. The mini tour will see him visiting Sweden, Norway, The Netherlands and Belgium and I'm definitely going to the gig here in Stockholm on November 17. Check out the tour dates below, and head over here to watch Earle's video for "Slippin' And Slidin'" from Harlem River Blues.

Stream: Yuck - "Soothe Me"

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Yuck's upcoming deluxe edition of their self-titled debut lp and posted "Cousin Corona", the first of two brand new tracks included on the reissue, and now we've got "Soothe Me", the second new song, available for streaming. Yuck's debut lp is one of my favourite records of the year and the deluxe edition includes six extra tracks in the form of four previously released b-sides plus the two new tracks.

The reissue will see physical release via Fat Possum on October 11, but it's out now digitally. Check out "Soothe Me" below and head over here to listen to "Cousin Corona" and view the full tracklist for the deluxe edition.

Full album stream: Ryan Adams - Ashes & Fire

If you've been following this blog for the past few months you'll have noticed that Ryan Adams' new album Ashes & Fire has been at the top of my "most anticipated"-list for awhile now and we can now finally listen to the album. Ashes & Fire is Adams' first newly recorded studio album since the lacklustre Cardinology was released in 2008 and it has shown promise to be his best since 2005's Cold Roses, and it does indeed deliver on that promise.

The album is Adams' most mellow affair in quite some time and it shows a return to his glorious songwriting that many thought he'd lost forever, and it should definitely win him back the fans he's lost in the past few years. Ashes & Fire is available to listen to right now thanks to NPR's First Listen feature.

Stream: Fanzine - "Roman Holiday"

In early July I posted the debut ep from London indie-rockers Fanzine, who have shared the stage with Yuck, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and Cults in the UK, and they're now releasing their debut single via Fat Possum on November 22. The single follows in the footsteps of the aforementioned Low EP and is a double a-side with the tracks "Roman Holiday" and "My Stupid Brain".

The single will be released as a 7" vinyl, digital download and also as a CDR with an illustrated fanzine, all limited to 500 copies. The band has decided to share "Roman Holiday" ahead of release and you can give it a listen below. It definitely sounds promising and hopefully the band will keep delivering at this high quality in the future.

Video: Radiohead perform "Lotus Flower" and "Staircase" on SNL 24/9

Last night Radiohead guested Saturday Night Live to perform two songs; "Lotus Flower" from their latest lp The King Of Limbs and a new track called "Staircase" which was premiered as part of their From The Basement-session earlier this year. Watch both performances below.
