Video: Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit performs "Codeine", "Alabama Pines" & "Go It Alone" on Letterman 4/11
Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit's Here We Rest was released earlier this year, in April, and it's still one of my favourite records released this year. Last night (in truth it was recorded on Thursday but broadcasted last night) they stopped by Late Show with David Letterman to perform "Codeine" on the show, and they also performed "Alabama Pines" and "Go It Alone" as web exclusives, and you can watch all three performances below.
Chicago garage rockers Mannequin Men have been releasing records since 2005 and on November 8 they're releasing their new self-titled lp via the Chicago-based label Addenda Records. The band has decided to release "Flyin' Blind" as a teaser track for the album, and it's definitely gotten my attention - it's a catchy track with longing vocals that should please both garage and indie fans. Listen to "Flyin' Blind" below and head over here for an mp3 of the track.
Alela Diane's new album Alela Diane & Wild Divine was released almost half a year ago now and yesterday she premiered the new video for "The Wind", one of the stronger tracks on the album. The video was recorded in Oregon, and it's shot and directed by Jason Reid and Darren Lund, and features Alela Diane herself and Rachel Herbert. Watch it below, and if you live in Europe you can see her live, supporting Fleet Foxes on their European tour.

You can watch the video below, and be ready for some pretty weird stuff - including monkey masks, and if you haven't heard the ep it's available to download for free here.
Last week we reported that garage rockers Reigning Sound would be releasing a new ep titled Abdication via Scion A/V and on Saturday we posted the first teaser from the album in the form of opener "Lyin' Girl", and today we've got another track for you; "Shaw". "Shaw" premiered yesterday on SPIN and clocking in at just over two minutes it retains Reigning Sound's classic garage rock sound but also ups the soul influence to a new level.
The Vaccines recently released a new single produced by Albert Hammond Jr of The Strokes and will be a part of a double A-side of the album track ”Wetsuit”.
If you're not a hardcore fan of either americana or the '80s Paisley Underground scene it's quite likely that you're not familiar with Chuck Prophet. Prophet began his career as the guitarist of Paisley Underground band Green on Red in the mid-'80s and began his solo career in 1990 with his debut record Brother Aldo and since then he's released eleven solo records, the last one in 2009, and his catalogue includes some of the best americana tracks you'll find anywhere but he's remained very much unknown.
