Video: Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit performs "Codeine", "Alabama Pines" & "Go It Alone" on Letterman 4/11
Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit's Here We Rest was released earlier this year, in April, and it's still one of my favourite records released this year. Last night (in truth it was recorded on Thursday but broadcasted last night) they stopped by Late Show with David Letterman to perform "Codeine" on the show, and they also performed "Alabama Pines" and "Go It Alone" as web exclusives, and you can watch all three performances below.

Stream: Mannequin Men - "Flyin' Blind"
Chicago garage rockers Mannequin Men have been releasing records since 2005 and on November 8 they're releasing their new self-titled lp via the Chicago-based label Addenda Records. The band has decided to release "Flyin' Blind" as a teaser track for the album, and it's definitely gotten my attention - it's a catchy track with longing vocals that should please both garage and indie fans. Listen to "Flyin' Blind" below and head over here for an mp3 of the track.

Stream: Chuck Prophet - "Castro Halloween"
If you're not a hardcore fan of either americana or the '80s Paisley Underground scene it's quite likely that you're not familiar with Chuck Prophet. Prophet began his career as the guitarist of Paisley Underground band Green on Red in the mid-'80s and began his solo career in 1990 with his debut record Brother Aldo and since then he's released eleven solo records, the last one in 2009, and his catalogue includes some of the best americana tracks you'll find anywhere but he's remained very much unknown.
