MP3: Loney Dear - "My Heart" (Holy Strays remix)

Loney Dear's been around for quite some time now but I didn't discover them until this fall with the release of the excellent Hall Music. The album's got many standout tracks, one of these being "My Heart" and earlier this week The Line of Best Fit posted a remix of the track by Holy Strays. Give it a listen, or download it, using the Soundcloud widget below.

MP3: Sharon Van Etten - "Serpents"

Sharon Van Etten announced the release of her upcoming third lp a couple of weeks ago and earlier this week "Serpents", a track from the album, premiered online. The track is decidedly faster and louder than what you'd expect and it is obvious that the influence of The National's Aaron Dessner (who Van Etten recorded the album with) is at play here. Check out the track below.

Watch: Gillian Welch perform "The Way It Goes" on Jools Holland 22/11

Around the release of Gillian Welch's excellent The Harrow & The Harvest in June she and her partner David Rawlings guested Conan O'Brien's show to perform "The Way It Goes", and on Tuesday it was time again - although this performance took place on the British tv show Later...with Jools Holland. Welch and Rawlings turned in a very good performance, as expected, and you can watch it below.

Watch: Ryan Adams with Laura Marling - "Oh My Sweet Carolina" (Live from Abbey Road)

That Laura Marling's A Creature I Don't Know inspired Ryan Adams during the recording of his excellent Ashes & Fire has been known for awhile now, and thanks to Live from Abbey Road we now get the chance to see the two perform together.

Listen: Serenades - "Oceans" (White Sea Remix)

Swedish indie act Serenades, the new project of Adam Olenius of Shout Out Louds and Markus Krunegård, have been receiving quite a lot of press abroad recently for their international debut ep Come Home and its lead single "Oceans". Serenades already have a full-length titled Criminal Heaven out here in Sweden but a full album won't be released abroad until next year.

"Oceans" is available as a free download on their official site, and earlier today NME published a remix by White Sea, aka Morgan Kibby of M83, which you can listen to below. It's pretty good, so give it a listen below and if you haven't seen it yet check out the video for "Oceans" as well.

MP3: The Babies - "Run Me Over"

To avoid confusion: the track below and the record it's taken from isn't new, or rather the lp was released in February this year but I've somehow managed to miss it completely - especially strange considering The Babies is a side-project of Cassie Ramone from Vivian Girls and Woods' Kevin Morby. I'm a fan of both those acts and The Babies self-titled record sounds almost exactly as you'd imagine when combining those two as it's a fun and poppy garage rock record.

The Babies are currently touring Europe, with a gig in Stockholm scheduled for this Saturday together with Norwegian kraut act 120 Days. The gig will take place at Hornstull Strand and it's hosted by the excellent club Lönelördag (What We Do Is Secret/Fritz's Corner), details here. Check out their European tour dates below, plus give "Run Me Over" from The Babies a listen.

If you haven't heard the title track from The Lion's Roar yet you should do yourself a favour and give it a listen now.

Check out the full tour itinerary below, with the new dates bolded.

Watch: M83 perform "Midnight City" on Fallon 21/11

M83's new album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is a favourite among the staff here at Birds Need Feet and lead single "Midnight City" is without a doubt one of the best songs released this year. Last night M83 appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform the track and they turned in a pretty excellent performance. Check out the performance below (via The Audio Perv).

Video: Porcelain Raft - "Put Me To Sleep"

When I posted about Porcelain Raft's "Put Me To Sleep" a couple of hours ago I didn't expect the video for the track to me released an hour or so later, but it was. So give the self-directed clip a watch below - it features a bath in milk from the looks of it.

MP3: Porcelain Raft - "Put Me To Sleep"

Porcelain Raft is a recent discovery of mine- it's the project of the London-based Italian musician Mauro Remiddi - and Secretly Canadian will be releasing Porcelain Raft's debut lp Strange Weekeend on January 23. I've had the opportunity to hear the record prior to it's release it's definitely something special, dreamy pop music that paints vivid pictures, and personally it reminds me a lot of the work '70s glam rock act T. Rex, except it's completely different.

Watch: Kathleen Edwards - "Sidecar" (TLOBF Session)

Canadian singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards is releasing Voyageur, her fourth studio record, in January and almost a month ago we posted the single from the album, "Sidecar". Video: I'm Kingfisher - "Svalbard"

I'm Kingfisher, aka Thomas Denver Jonsson, is one of Sweden's finest singer-songwriters and last year he released his fourth record, Arctic. Arctic is the first of his recordings to be released under the I'm Kingfisher moniker, with his previous released being under his own name, and Arctic was recently re-released in the UK. In connection to the re-release I'm Kingfisher unveiled a fourth video from the album for the beautiful "Svalbard".

Watch: The Tarantula Waltz - "Scandinavian Minds" (live session)

I went to see The Tarantula Waltz open for Justin Townes Earle last Thursday and The Tarantula Waltz, aka Markus Svensson, turned in a pretty impressive gig (for a full report go here). The Tarantula Waltz is currently working on his upcoming third full-length album, with a spring release in sight, and he's been performing many new songs live - the entire live set consisted of new songs.
