Thursday was seemingly a good day for music on the late night shows with Dawes visiting Conan and My Morning Jacket stopping by Letterman to perform "Outta My System", from their newest album Circuital. Both bands are on ATO Records as well as it happens. Watch MMJ's performance below.
A couple of nights ago Dawes stopped by Conan O'Brien's show to perform their excellent single "Time Spent In Los Angeles", taken from Nothing Is Wrong which was released via ATO Records in June. Watch the performance below.
Deer Tick released their new record Divine Providence in October via Partisan Records and last night they stopped by Conan O'Brien's show to perform the track "Funny Word" from it. Watch the performance below.
Marissa Nadler's self-titled record is one of the most underrated records released this year and she's now released a video for album opener "In Your Lair, Bear". The video was directed by Alec K. Redfearn and you can watch it below.
Last week Niki & The Dove released a video for "Mother Protect" from their new Sub Pop ep The Drummer and yesterday they unveiled yet another video, but this one is for their 2010 debut single "DJ Ease My Mind". They released a video for "DJ Ease My Mind" last year consisting of found footage but as they've come a long way since they decided to make a proper video for the track as well.
Blitzen Trapper's American Goldwing has been out for a couple of months by now, but if you've yet to give it a try you can begin by getting yourself an mp3 of the band's latest single "Might Find It Cheap". "Might Find It Cheap" is the opening track on American Goldwing and last week they performed it on Late Show with David Letterman. Yesterday I posted Hip Hatchet's brand new ep Coward's Luck and today it's time for another Balto-related artist to get his share of the spotlight - namely Everyman of Parts, aka Andrew Sheron who produced Balto's October's Road as well as playing mandolin and contributing vocals to the record.
Everyman of Parts is releasing his debut album Travelling Time on December 19 and yesterday he released a first teaser from the album in the form of "Arid Eyes", which you can listen to/download below.
Last week I posted Karen O & Trent Reznor's cover of Led Zeppelin's classic "Immigrant Song", taken from the soundtrack for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and yesterday a video for the track was unveiled. The video is a collage created by The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director David Fincher for the film's title sequence. Watch it below.
The Swedish pop queen Robyn guested Saturday Night Live last night to perform two tracks from her Body Talk trilogy; the singles "Call Your Girlfriend" and "Dancing on My Own". Watch both performances below.
On Thursday I posted the title track from Hip Hatchet's brand new Coward's Luck ep which was released on Friday via their Bandcamp site for free. The ep contains three tracks and clocks in at just under eight minutes, but in those eight minutes we're treated with some very fine folk rock courtesy of Hip Hatchet leader Philippe Bronchtein.
