Stockholm gig guide: May 7-May 13

Hiya, we're back with a second installment of our weekly gig guide for Stockholm. This week's offerings is a bit slimmer than last week's, but there's still plenty to go around for Thursday-Friday-Saturday.

Thursday 10/5: Norra Kust at Brooklyn Bar, Hornstull Strand
Norra Kust have only released one song so far, the brilliant "Valley", but their self-titled full-length is released this Wednesday via Teg Publishing/Playground. The duo is celebrating the release of Norra Kust the day after at Hornstull Strand's Brooklyn Bar where they'll both be performing a live set as well as dj-ing throughout the evening.

What We Do Is Secret and Push My Buttons are presenting a gig at Vielle Montague with In The Red's Spits supported by the Stockholm group Ras as well as Holograms - who did a great job opening for Friends last Monday.

Friday 11/5: Fritz's Corner: Loosegoats + Last Days Of April The Tarantula Waltz at Debaser Slussen
The excellent club Fritz's Corner is hosting a gig with the newly reformed Loosegoats and Last Days Of April at Debaser Slussen this Friday. Loosegoats have just released their first record in over ten years and it's pretty damn good, so definitely make sure to stop by. It's free before ten as well.

UPDATE: Last Days Of April cancelled their gig and the replacement act is the amazing The Tarantula Waltz. One of my favourite Swedish artists right now, and excellent live. A must see.

Friday 11/5: Ryan Adams + Jason Isbell at Waterfront
Ryan Adams released his comeback record Ashes & Fire last fall and I had the privilege to see him live twice last year and he's at the top of his game right now. Expect an over two hour long set with tracks taken from all over his discography, sprinkled with covers, and Adams in a good mood. Opening for the night is one of the most underrated songwriters in the US; Jason Isbell. Isbell began his career in the Drive-By Truckers but have released three solo records since 2007 and as far as I know it's his first time in Sweden.

Saturday: Jonas Lundqvist + Lune at Trädgården
Trädgården are having their summer opening party this weekend and on Saturday they've got Jonas Lundqvist performing live. Lundqvist recently released an excellent record Så e de me de, which is produced by Studio's Rasmus Hägg, and opening for the night is the Lune. Lune is on at eight and Lundqvist at nine, and it's free entry before eight.

[This is definitely not a complete list of gigs in Stockholm during this week. Just my personal recommendations from those that I know of. See something that should be there but isn't? Something for next week you think I might not know of? Send me an email at birdsneedfeet@gmail.com with "GIG RECOMMENDATION" as the subject.]
