The record will be the follow-up to East of Eden which was released in 2009, although we did get to hear her on few songs from Korallreven's excellent An Album by Korallreven last year.
The electropop act Caotico from Umeå, Sweden are releasing their debut lp Sunrise Confessions on February 22 and a few days ago PSL premiered the video for their new single; the title track of the lp. Watch the video, which was made by Linus Andersson, Martin Gärdemalm and Joel Dunkels, below.

The line-up for this year's Way Out West festival is looking quite good with The War On Drugs, Feist and Refused joining the already confirmed Bon Iver for the Gothenburg festival. Way Out West has been consistently great the past few years and this year shouldn't be an exception, although they'll have trouble beating last year's headlining combo of Kanye West and Prince. Way Out West wall take place between August 9 and 11 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Earlier this week Austra released a video for "Spellwork", taken from their 2010 Domino album Feel It Break. The fantasy-inspired video is directed by Yelena Yemchuk and you can watch it below.
Fanzine just keeps on delivering. We've previously posted about "Tough", "Roman Holiday" and "My Stupid Brain" - all excellent - and now they've released another killer track titled "Dream Of You", which you can listen to and/or download below. The band is currently working on their upcoming debut lp and if they keep this up it'll be something special indeed.
A few years back I was a huge fan of The Hold Steady but lately I haven't been paying attention as much, partly due to the declining quality of their records, so I've almost missed the fact that The Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn is releasing a new record on January 24. The record is titled Clear Heart Full Eyes and will be released by Vagrant Records and a few days ago we were treated with a track from it titled "New Friend Jesus", which you can listen to below.
In late October I posted "Casto Halloween", the excellent first track from Chuck Prophet's upcoming album Temple Beautiful, and today I've got the album's title track for your listening pleasure. While "Castro Halloween" was more in vein with what you'd expect from Prophet "Temple Beautiful" is a rollicking rock 'n' roll track and it's quite good, although not reaching the highs of "Castro Halloween". Still, colour me excited for the full-length which drops in a few weeks via Yep Roc/Decor.
Damien Jurado is set to release tenth studio album Maraqopa via Secretly Canadian on February 21 and in mid-November we were treated with the opening track "Nothing Is The News". It's an excellent tune and if you haven't heard it yet you can download an mp3 of it here, and a few days ago the video for it was released. Watch it below.
This has been in the works for quite some time now and it's finally seeing a release on February 27 via Rounder Records. I'm talking about New Multitudes, a project by Jay Farrar of Son Volt and formerly of Uncle Tupelo, Will Johnson of Centro-matic and South San Gabriel, Anders Parker and Yim Yames, aka Jim James of My Morning Jacket, who's joined together to record a few songs set to previously unused lyrics by folk legend Woody Guthrie - in the same vein that Billy Bragg & Wilco's Mermaid Avenue albums did. Just look at that line-up!
On Tuesday I posted the new War On Drugs b-side "Don't Fear The Ghost" and later the same night the band stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform "Baby Missiles" from last year's excellent Slave Ambient. The band turned in an excellent performance with the help of The Roots' drummer Questlove, and you can watch it below.

Up until an hour ago I had no idea who Wymond Miles was, or rather I did but I didn't know his name. Anyway, Wymond Miles usually plays guitar in San Franciscan garage rock act The Fresh & Onlys but on January 24 he'll be releasing his first solo work, an ep titled Earth Has Doors, via Sacred Bones. Listen to a track from it below, it sounds pretty impressive.
I only started listening to Cloud Nothings recently, with their new album Attack On Memory which will be released on January 24 via Carpark. Soundwise the album fits right in with producer Steve Albini's classic work, plus it's really good so give it a listen below.
Justin Townes Earle is releasing his fourth solo album on March 27 via Bloodshot Records and it's called Nothing's Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now, and if he's keeping to tradition he'll be releasing his best record yet. Nothing's Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now is the follow-up to 2010's largely excellent Harlem River Blues and he's now released the title track from the new album in exchange for an email address over at his website, and it's very good.
Canadian garage rocker King Khan and his band the Shrines are releasing a split single with Mikal Cronin on February 10 via Bruise Cruise, and you can listen to and/or download King Khan and the Shrines' contribution "Bite My Tongue" and listen to Mikal Cronin's "Am I Wrong" using the Soundcloud players below.

If you're not from Sweden, or at least any of the Nordic countries, chances are that you're not familiar with Joakim Thåström, but around here he's something of a legend. He's releasing a new album on February 15 via Razzia Records, titled Beväpna Dig Med Vingar, and earlier today the title track (and first single) premiered on Swedish national radio, and as expected it's really good. Give it a listen below.
Well as it turns out Secretly Canadian didn't mean to unveil the full album stream of Strange Weekend just yet so we've removed that post, but instead we've got another teaser from the album for those of you that didn't catch the album stream. Porcelain Raft will be releasing "Unless You Speak From Your Heart" as a 7" single on February 20 via Secretly Canadian with the b-side "Something In Between". Give "Unless You Speak From Your Heart" a listen below.
The War On Drugs' Slave Ambient was without a doubt one of the best albums released last year and on January 24 the band will release a 7" single for one of its strongest tracks; "Come To The City". The 7" will be released by Secretly Canadian and it will also feature a brand new b-side titled "Don't Fear The Ghost" and we've got a stream of it available for you below. It's sort of a throwaway track compared to the album, but that's to be expected.
I've never really gotten into The Shins as I got into that type of music too late, but they're releasing a new album in March titled The Port of Morrow and last night a first track from the album hit the internet. The track is called "Simple Song" and it's quite nice, reminiscent of latter day The Who. Give it a listen below.
Last week I posted Simian Ghosts' new single "Wolf Girl", which will be released on Monday, and today NME premiered the video for the track as well. "Wolf Girl" is taken from their "second debut album" Youth which will be released on March 5 via Heist or Hit Records. Watch the video below, plus check out their tour dates below the vid.
Well, The Line of Best Fit has done it again. "What?" you ask - well introduced me to another excellent Nordic artist of course. This time it's the pop act Vanbot, aka Ester Ideskog, from Stockholm and her new video for "Numb", taken from her self-titled debut record which was released last year and is now definitely on my to-listen list. Watch the video below.
I've previously posted Kathleen Edwards' "Change the Sheets" and "Sidecar", both taken from her upcoming album Voyageur, and yesterday NPR premiered the full album as part of their First Listen feature. Voyageur is a wonderful alt. country album and well worth it for any fan of the genre, or just excellent music, and it was co-written and co-produced by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. Plus it features guest spots from Bon Iver drummer S. Carey, Norah Jones, Phil Cook of Megafaun and others.
