Norra Kust is a brand new duo from Luleå in northern Sweden (and the band name happen to translate to Northern Coast, on which Luleå is located) and they're set to release their self-titled debut album on May 9 via Teg Publishing/Playground.
The Bowerbirds' The Clearing is one of the finest folk albums to be released this year, and they're currently on tour here in Europe. A couple of weeks back the band guested WNYC's Soundcheck show to perform one of the strongest tracks from The Clearing, "Overcome With Light", and they turned in a really good performance. The Deer Tick/Black Lips/Dead Confederate/Los Lobos side-project Diamond Rugs are set to release their self-titled debut record via Partisan Records on April 24, but you can listen to the album a week early. While Diamond Rugs isn't as good as either Deer Tick or the Black Lips it's well worth a listen, as several tracks are stronger than most on the latest albums by either of the bands.
First Aid Kit made their US national television debut on Conan O'Brien's show last night with the stunningly beautiful "Emmylou", taken from their second album The Lion's Roar (out now via Wichita Recordings). Watch the performance below.
Outfit are set to release their debut EP Another Night's Dreams Reach Earth Again via the excellent Double Denim on May 14 and today "Drakes", a second track from the EP, was unveiled. "Drakes" follows lead single "Dashing In Passing", which was released in February, and you can listen to it below (via Abeano).
A few weeks back I posted the new jj single "Beautiful Life", which is taken from the upcoming 7" jj nº4 (out on May 8 via Secretly Canadian), and a video for the track has now been unveiled as well. Watch it below.
If you remember, I posted Wymond Miles' "Hidden Things Are Asking You To Find Them", from his debut EP Earth Has Doors which was was released in January via Sacred Bones. Now we've got another brand new track from Miles; this one's called "Pale Moon" and it's taken from his upcoming debut LP Under The Pale Moon, which will be released via Sacred Bones on June 12.
A$AP Rocky's set to release his debut album this summer LongLiveA$AP, following last year's excellent debut mixtape LiveLoveA$AP, and the first single from the album hit the internet today. It's called "Goldie", and features production from Hit-Boy, and while it's not his best track yet it's definitely good. Give it a listen below.
