It's been a year and a half since Kanye West released his mess-of-a-masterpiece My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy so it's something of a surprise that he's releasing a video for the Bon Iver-featuring "Lost In The World" now. The video is directed by Ruth Hogben and it's definitely worth a watch. Check it out below.
For the past half year it's been pretty hard to miss Drake or his platinum-selling Take Care, which features a guest spot from The Weeknd on "Crew Love". A few days ago UK producer/dj Star Slinger released his own reworking of "Crew Love" titled "Star Slinger's Jersey Refix". Give it a listen below and maybe grab yourself an mp3.
The Swedish duo Icona Pop released their excellent debut EP Nights Like This last October and now they're finally back with new music. Yesterday the Swedish music blog PSL premiered the video for their new collaboration with Patrik Berger (who has previously worked with Robyn among others) and Style Of Eye "I Love It", and it's been worth the wait.
Former Fleet Foxes drummer J. Tillman released his debut album, titled Fear Fun, as Father John Misty this Tuesday via Bella Union/Sub Pop and that night he also guested Late Show with David Letterman to perform "Only Son Of The Ladies Man". Tillman turned in quite an impressive performance and you can watch it all below.
A couple of weeks back the fine people at Cascine gave ut the excellent debut EP from Sweden's World Tour and later this month they'll be releasing the debut EP from another Swedish act; Ditt Inre. Ditt Inre combines post-rock and electronic pop with lyrics in Swedish to great success, and "Månljus (saknad)" is a fine example of this.
A couple of weeks back I posted A$AP Rocky's "Goldie", the first single from his upcoming debut album LongLiveA$AP, and he's now released a video for the single as well. Watch it below, but keep in mind that it's a bit NSFW.
The Swedish psychedelic rock band Den Stora Vilan are releasing their first live album today, titled Livegrodor, and they've shared a teaser track from the album. Livegrodor was recorded in the summer of 2010 and will be available at all of their live shows. Listen to "Familjen" below.
Niki & The Dove have unveiled yet another new track; this one's called "All This Youth" and it's a bonus track on the deluxe edition of Niki & The Dove's upcoming debut album Instinct. For most bands it'd be a definite inclusion on any record but Niki & The Dove isn't any band, and it says a lot that they can afford to leave a track this good off the record.
The Swedish festival Way Out West have launched something called the "Way Out West Sessions", where they record a session and interview with one of the acts from the festival. The first volume of the series is with the Swedish folk act First Aid Kit who perform their beautiful single "Emmylou" in Stockholm. The Söderberg sisters turn in an excellent performance and the video is beautifully shot.
Chuck Prophet has released a new video for his Record Store Day 7" "The Left Hand and the Right Hand", which is taken from his excellent album Temple Beautiful (released earlier this year via Yep Roc/Decor). Watch the video below.
New Jersey rock act The Gaslight Anthem are set to release their fourth studio album this summer, on July 24 via Mercury Records. The album will be called Handwritten and it's the follow-up to 2010's American Slang, and the first single from the album, "45", premiered yesterday.
I've already posted "Hot Summer" and "Tomorrow" (mixtape version) from Niki & The Dove's debut mixtape and today the full thing was released. The mixtape is around 17,5 minutes long and features reworkings of already released material as well as completely new music. Listen to it in full below.
Well, here's a new idea. A weekly guide of gigs in Stockholm, based on my personal taste and (lack of) knowledge. Most of our readers aren't based in Stockholm, but this might be of help to some - plus you might decide to come visit as we've usually got (too) many great gigs every week. We'll start things of with the coming week between Monday, April 30, and Sunday, May 6, and hopefully there'll be a new one each Sunday.
The past Monday I posted Niki & The Dove's "Hot Summer", the first track taken from their upcoming debut mixtape. Today, after a slight delay, they revealed a second track from the mixtape - the mixtape version of their latest single "Tomorrow" and it certainly takes a different direction than the regular version. Watch the video for it below, or if videos ain't your thing there's a Soundcloud stream as well.
A couple of weeks back I posted "Bad Thing", the first track released from King Tuff's upcoming self-titled album, and now we've got another track for you. This one's called "Keep On Movin'" and it certainly owes a lot to T. Rex as well as garage pop. It's pretty great. Give it a listen below, and grab yourself an mp3 as well.
