MP3: Frank Ocean - "Pyramids"


Frank Ocean is arguably the most exciting artist from the Odd Future crew, and now he's finally announced the release of his long-awaited debut LP. The record will be titled Channel Orange and it's the follow-up to last year's debut mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra, and it'll be released on July 17 via Def Jam.

MP3: Helado Negro - "Mamember (Long Largo)"


How about some Latin American electronic music from Brooklyn? Helado Negro; the project of Florida-born Roberto Carles Lange of Ecuadorean descent who's currently based in Brooklyn, New York produces exactly that, utilizing synths and live instrumentation to create Latin American-inspired music with lyrics in Spanish. It's not quite what you're used to (I assume) but it's mesmerizing, and well worth a listen.

Last week I posted Cory Branan's "Survivor Blues", the closing track on his excellent new album MUTT, and now his label Bloodshot Records have been kind enough to offer up a full album stream of MUTT on Soundcloud. MUTT is Branan's third solo record and it's a damn fine one, receiving praise from Jason Isbell among others. Give it a listen below and see for yourselves.

Last night garage rock duo Bass Drum of Death unveiled a new single titled "White Fright". In some ways it's reminiscent of early The Hives, and it's indeed quite good. Give it a listen below.

Listen: Grizzly Bear - "Sleeping Ute"


I've never really been a fan of Grizzly Bear before but a few days back they shared "Sleeping Ute", the first track from their upcoming fourth studio album, and I'm pretty much blown away. Feels like I need to revisit their back catalogue. The album, which is still untitled, will be released on September 17/18 via Warp Records and Grizzly Bear are also set to head out on a world tour. Listen to the track below and check out the tour dates as well.

Watch: Bowerbirds - "Overcome With Light" (official video)


North Carolina's Bowerbirds released their impressive third LP The Clearing earlier this year via Dead Oceans and today Stereogum premiered the video for their latest single "Overcome With Light". The video was made by Lawrence Martinez and it's a collection of scenic nature shots and video sequences. Watch it below.

Watch: Simian Ghost - "Automation" (official video)


Simian Ghost release Youth earlier this year via Nomethod Records/Heist Or Hit Records and on June 16 they will release "Automation" from the album as their next single. Earlier today Clash premiered the summery Linus Andersson-directed video for "Automation" and you can watch it right here, below.

MP3 + Video: Calexico - "Para"


Calexico have announced the release of their new studo album Algiers, the follow-up to 2008's excellent Carried To Dust, for September 11 via ANTI- Records in the US and City Slang in Europe. Check out the first single from the album; "Para", below, either by streaming it via Soundcloud, downloading the mp3 or by watching the video.

MP3: YAST - "Strangelife" (Azure Blue remix)


Last week I posted YAST's new single "Strangelife", both the mp3 and the video, and earlier this week The Fader premiered one of the two remixes that will appear as b-sides to the single. The remix in question is made by Stockholm electronic pop act Azure Blue, aka Tobias Isaksson, who replaces YAST's guitars with his own synths. The results is impressive. Give it a listen below.

Listen: Museum of Bellas Artes - "Bear Cubs"


Museum of Bella Artes are set to release their debut record later this year, and earlier this week the first single to be taken from the album premiered on Pitchfork. The single in question is called "Bear Cubs", it's great, and it'll be released as a 7" single on June 13 by Force Majeure with the b-side "Dead Silence". Give "Bear Cubs" a listen below.

Listen: Jens Lekman - "Erica America"


We've known for awhile now that a new Jens Lekman album was coming out this year, but now we've finally got an official announcement. The album will be called I Know What Love Isn't and it'll be released on September 3 via Service in Scandinavia and Secretly Canadian worldwide. I Know What Love Isn't is the follow-up to last year's An Argument With Myself EP and it's Lekman's first full-length album in five years as well. You can listen to a cut from the album right here, below, called "Erica America". Kinda wonderful eh?

Watch: Amanda Mair - "House" (official video)


Amanda Mair's debut record Amanda Mair was released earlier in Sweden via Labrador Records, and it's seeing an international release now in June. In connection to the re-release a video for her single "House" has been unveiled. The video is directed by Philip Ekström with the help of Henrik Ekström (both from The Mary Onettes), and Philip Ekström also wrote large parts of the LP. Give it a watch below.

Listen: Faye - "Water Against The Rocks" (HNNY'S Hunny Mix)


I posted the video for Faye's wonderful new single "Water Against The Rocks" last week and today PSL revealed a great new remix of the track courtesy of HNNY. HNNY is the project of Johan Cederberg, one half of the production duo Montauk who work with Faye, and until now the indentiy of HNNY has been something of a secret. Check out the remix below.

Ikons release their excellent second LP Life Rhythm via Service in May, and back in March I posted the video for "Sister" from the album. You can listen to another track from the LP below, the wonderfully titled "Polaroid Cocaine".

A few weeks back I posted the Air France inspired "Fly Away", the lead single from Paper Hearts' debut EP On Top Of The World which was released last week via Pepperbox Recordings. To celebrate the release of the EP "Fly Away" also got its very own video, which you can watch below.

Listen: Ty Segall Band - "Swag"


The Ty Segall Band is set to release their new record Slaughterhouse later this month via In The Red Records and last week I posted "I Bought My Eyes", the latest track from the album to be unveiled. Today we've got another new Ty Segall Band track called "Swag" available for listening, but it's not taken from Slaughterhouse - instead it'll appear on the vinyl only In A Cloud II - New Sounds from San Francisco compilation from Secret Seven. Give "Swag" a listen below.
