Jens Lekman will be releasing his extraordinary new record I Know What Love Isn't on September 3, via Service in Scandinavia and Secretly Canadian internationally, and we've previously been treated with lead single "Erica America". Yesterday the video for the title track of the record was released as well. Watch the minimalistic Marcus Söderlund-directed clip below.
Boston four-piece ABADABAD are set to release their debut EP The Wild digitally on September 11 and yesterday the first track from it was released online; the jangly pop tune "All The Bros Say", which you can listen to below.
Austin, TX act White Denim have unveiled two new tracks, both previously unreleased and recorded during the sessions for last year's Takes Place In Your Work Space EP. Check out both below.
First Aid Kit's The Lion's Roar was one of my early favourites of the year, mainly due to the strength of the two singles; "The Lion's Roar" and "Emmylou", and the bonus track "Wolf". "Wolf" clearly outshone all the tracks on the regular version of the LP outside of the two singles, so it is fitting that it has been chosen for proper single release, for the expanded box set issue of the album. Give "Wolf" a listen below.
San Francisco garage poppers The Fresh & Onlys will be releasing their new LP Long Slow Dance on September 4 via Mexican Summer in the US and on September 3 via Souterrain Transmissions in Europe. Yesterday the second single from the album premiered, it's titled "Presence Of Mind" and follows lead single "Yes Or No" which was released in mid-June. Check out "Presence Of Mind" below.
Last week we gave you Washed Out's remix of new MMJ single "Outta My System", and as the single EP was released yesterday they've now also shared Dave Sitek's, of TV On The Radio, remix of the track as well. Give it a listen below.
Lots of second-track-to-be-released-from-upcoming-lp today... Here's a third one: SF garage psych act Thee Oh Sees have unveiled "Flood's New Light", following "Lupine Dominus", from their upcoming LP Putrifiers II. Putrifiers II is due on September 11 via In The Red Recordings. Listen to "Flood's New Light" below.
Woods' "The Size Meets The Sound" is the second track to be unveiled from their upcoming LP Bend Beyond, which will be released via their own Woodsist label on September 18, following lead single "Cali In A Cup". Judging by these two last year's Sun & Shade was only a temporary dip in quality. Listen to "The Size Meets The Sound" below.
"Shadow", the brilliant first single from Wild Nothing's second LP Nocturne was unveiled in June and yesterday "Paradise" was announced as the second single to be taken from the LP. Like "Shadow", it's a great track and Nocturne is sure to end up as one of the best records of the year. Check out "Paradise" below.
A couple of weeks back I posted a new track from Sheffield punks Best Friends and now they're back with a new release; a split single with Grazes, out on Art Is Hard Records/Enjoyment Records on August 13. The Fly premiered the video for the first track on the split; Best Friends' "Dude Love". Watch it below and head over here to listen to the entire split and pre-order it.
White Birds side-project and self-proclaimed "sex pop" act Night Panther have unveiled their second track "Fever" as a premiere on Yours Truly. Like their debut track "Snudge", "Fever" is another excellent piece of '80s-indebted pop. Check it out below.
According to their not so long-winded bio Saint Lou Lou are "Twin sisters born and raised in Sweden / Australia", and that's pretty much it. They're releasing their wonderful debut single "Maybe You" on August 27 via Kitsunè and on August 25 they'll play at the Popaganda festival here in Stockholm. Listen to "Maybe You" below (cheers to disco naïveté for the tip).
Last week we posted Washed Out's remix of My Morning Jacket's "Outta My System", taken from the Outta My System Remixez Y Friendz EP, which will be released tomorrow, and today MMJ released the animated video for "Outta My System" as well. The video features Zach Galifianakis as "the wizard", was directed by James Frost and it is watchable below.
Adult Swim's 2012 Singles Program returns this week with a brand new tracks from Wavves, aka Nathan Williams, titled "Hippies Is Punks". "Hippies Is Punks" takes it cues from pop-punk and '90s indie, conjuring up names like Superchunk and Weezer. Check it out below.
Au Revoir Simone frontwoman Erika Forster released her solo debut EP under the name Erika Spring via Cascine in early July and we've covered lead single "Hidden" several times by now. "Hidden" isn't the only thing worth hearing on the EP though, all five songs are absolute pop hits, and last week a remix of opener "Happy At Your Gate" by New York producer Courtship was unveiled. Give it a listen below.
The excellent London label Double Denim unveiled the signing of London producer Mind Enterprises aka Andrea Tirone, originally from Turin in Italy, with his new single "Summer War", which you can listen to and download below. "Summer War" features some lovely vocals and excellent beats, and it'll be released on September 10 with the b-side "Sister".

Today, August 6, would've been Elliott Smith's 43rd birthday but, sadly, he passed in 2003. To celebrate his birthday Smith's old label Kill Rock Stars are offering up a previously unreleased version of Either/Or track "Alameda" recorded during the same session as the album track. Check it out below. Happy birthday, Elliott!
