MP3: Balto - "Smokestacks"
The folk rock act Balto, led by singer-songwriter Daniel Sheron, was one of the first unknown acts we covered here on Birds Need Feet when they released their excellent debut LP October's Road early last year. October's Road was one of my personal favourite records of 2011 although it remained sadly underappreciated by most - but now they're back with the follow-up EP Everyone And Everything which is due for release on September 18.
Prior to the release of the EP they've unveiled its lead single "Smokestacks" and unsurprisingly it may just be the best americana track released this year - plus it features Philippe Bronchtein from Hip Hatchet on piano. The EP is, like October's Road, produced by Jeremy Backofen (who's previously worked with The Felice Brothers) and if "Smokestacks" is anything to go by it'll be something special. Give the single a listen and/or a download below.

Watch: Syron - "Breaking" (official video)

London pop songstress Syron unveiled her new single "Breaking" earlier this month and together with Faye's "Water Against The Rocks" it's probably my favourite pop single of the year. MP3: OVERUNDA - "Pause" & "She Falls To The Floor"
OVERUNDA or OVER UNDA or OVER/UNDA - I've seen all three spellings in a matter of a few minutes of research is the new project of a producer from London. Musically it's slow-moving electronic music and so far there's only two tracks available from the project; "Pause" and "She Falls To The Floor", and both are without a doubt good enough to warrant your attention for any forthcoming releases.
Watch: Vånna Inget - "Jag Ska Fly Tills Jag Hittar Hem" (official video)
Back in February we posted Vånna Inget's "Nödsignal", the first track taken from their then-upcoming 7" EP Jag Ska Fly Tills Jag Hittar Hem, which was released in March, and now they've unveiled the video for the title track of the EP. Vånna Inget is probably the best Swedish punk act with lyrics in Swedish at the moment and they're also an excellent live act, and the new video was shot during their live gigs the past spring and summer. Watch it below.

Live: Popaganda festival, Stockholm, August 24-25
The line-up for this year's Popaganda festival long looked very thin, but with a few choice bookings in the last few weeks prior to the festival they ended up with a good and solid line-up, where the smaller acts where far more interesting than the larger ones. The Popaganda festival is located at Eriksdalsbandet in Stockholm, and considering that they've had headliners such as Robyn and Belle & Sebastian, and Lykke Li and Arcade Fire for the past few years this year's Teddybears and Thåström seem quite pale in comparison. Both acts are popular enough to headline smaller festivals in Sweden though, and the crowd certainly enjoyed them.

Listen: Patterson Hood - "Better Off Without"
Little over a month ago Patterson Hood unveiled the gorgeous "Come Back Little Star", the lead single from his upcoming record Heat Lightning Rumbles In The Distance and now a second track has been released. The track is called "Better Off Without" and sees Hood revisiting many of the same lyrical themes that have permeated much of his work. But that's all for the better. Give it a listen below.
