Last week we posted Norwegian pop songstress Sandra Kolstad's latest single "The Well (We Will Change It All)" and now the video for the track has been unveiled as well. Kolstad is set to release her new album (Nothing Lasts) Forever on September 28 via Trust Me and judging by the two pre-release singles (this and "Right Now") it's going to be something special. See for yourselves below.
Californian rock act Howlin Rain released their excellent third LP The Russian Wilds earlier this year and on September 17 they'll be releasing a new limited edition single via Agitated Records. The single will be limited to 500 copies on clear vinyl and 500 copies on blue vinyl and the single will feature a cover of The Grateful Dead's "When The Morning Comes" and the demo version of their cover of the James Gang's "Collage", which appeared on The Russian Wilds. Listen to both tracks below.
Moonface aka Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown released his latest record With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery in April via Jagjaguwar, and it features the Finnish band Siinai as Krug's backing band. Yesterday a new video from the album was released, for "I'm Not The Phoenix Yet", and the Throneboogie-directed clip could be best described as a close-up workout video. Watch it below.
Echo Lake released their debut LP Wild Peace in June via No Pain In Pop/Slumberland Records and back then we posted the title track, "Wild Peace", and yesterday the video for the track was unveiled. The video is directed by Dan Nixon and features Echo Lake vocalist Linda Jarvis against scenic backdrops. Watch it below.
The Fresh & Onlys released "Presence Of Mind", the second track from their upcoming LP Long Slow Dance, earlier this month and today the video for the track premiered as well. The video is a weird one, featuring a bus journey through time, and you can watch it below. Long Slow Dance will be released next week via Mexican Summer/Souterrain Transmissions but you can listen to it over at Hypem right now.
In early July we posted British singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh's excellent "Honest Man", taken from his debut EP Fail For You which was released earlier this month, and today the video for the title track of the EP was unveiled. The video is a fittingly beautiful clip and you can watch it below.
The folk rock act Balto, led by singer-songwriter Daniel Sheron, was one of the first unknown acts we covered here on Birds Need Feet when they released their excellent debut LP October's Road early last year. October's Road was one of my personal favourite records of 2011 although it remained sadly underappreciated by most - but now they're back with the follow-up EP Everyone And Everything which is due for release on September 18.
Prior to the release of the EP they've unveiled its lead single "Smokestacks" and unsurprisingly it may just be the best americana track released this year - plus it features Philippe Bronchtein from Hip Hatchet on piano. The EP is, like October's Road, produced by Jeremy Backofen (who's previously worked with The Felice Brothers) and if "Smokestacks" is anything to go by it'll be something special. Give the single a listen and/or a download below.
Australian electropop outfit Van She's second LP Idea Of Happiness is out digitally worldwide now via Modular, with a physical release coming on September 24, and yesterday they released the video for the second single to be taken from the album; "Jamaica". The video features, well, Jamaica and the Van She band members and you can watch it below.
Bob Dylan is set to release his new album Tempest on September 11 via Columbia Records and today he unveiled the video for lead single "Duquesne Whistle". The video is pretty crazy, see for yourselves below.
In early August London producer Mind Enterprises shared his new single "Summer War", which is set to be released via Double Denim on September 10. The single will also include the b-side "Sister" and today it was made available for listening as well, and it's just as good as the a-side. Give it a listen below.
I don't even wanna guess how many times we've posted about Niki & The Dove in the past year but there's always room for one time more. Yesterday the Stockholm pop duo unveiled a new remix of their single "DJ, Ease My Mind" from Twin Shadow, with whom they'll touring the US this fall. Check it out below, plus listen to the original version of the track if you somehow haven't heard it yet.
London pop songstress Syron unveiled her new single "Breaking" earlier this month and together with Faye's "Water Against The Rocks" it's probably my favourite pop single of the year. Today the video for the track premiered on The Guardian and you can watch it below. The "Breaking" single will be released via Black Butter Records on September 20.
Nordpolen released his latest single "När Mitt Blod Pumpar I Dej" in June and now the video for the track has been unveiled as well, and you can watch it below - plus head over to Sincerely Yours' site to download it for free.
Australian psychedelic pop outfit Tame Impala are set to release their second LP Lonerism via Modular in October and little over a month ago they unveiled "Elephant", the lead single from the album. Yesterday a remix of the track by none other than Todd Rundgren was released, and you can give it a listen below.
London indie pop act Casablanca is set to release their debut single "Yes", which we posted a week back, on September 19 via Party Politics and today the video for it was unveiled. Watch it below.
OVERUNDA or OVER UNDA or OVER/UNDA - I've seen all three spellings in a matter of a few minutes of research is the new project of a producer from London. Musically it's slow-moving electronic music and so far there's only two tracks available from the project; "Pause" and "She Falls To The Floor", and both are without a doubt good enough to warrant your attention for any forthcoming releases.
Back in February we posted Vånna Inget's "Nödsignal", the first track taken from their then-upcoming 7" EP Jag Ska Fly Tills Jag Hittar Hem, which was released in March, and now they've unveiled the video for the title track of the EP. Vånna Inget is probably the best Swedish punk act with lyrics in Swedish at the moment and they're also an excellent live act, and the new video was shot during their live gigs the past spring and summer. Watch it below.
San Franciscan garage act Sic Alps are set to release their upcoming self-titled record on September 18 via Drag City and earlier this summer the first track from it, "Glyphs", was released online. Today the video for the track was unveiled as well, check it out below.
The line-up for this year's Popaganda festival long looked very thin, but with a few choice bookings in the last few weeks prior to the festival they ended up with a good and solid line-up, where the smaller acts where far more interesting than the larger ones. The Popaganda festival is located at Eriksdalsbandet in Stockholm, and considering that they've had headliners such as Robyn and Belle & Sebastian, and Lykke Li and Arcade Fire for the past few years this year's Teddybears and Thåström seem quite pale in comparison. Both acts are popular enough to headline smaller festivals in Sweden though, and the crowd certainly enjoyed them.
One of Sweden's very finest Americana acts, EP's Trailer Park, are back with a new self-titled LP scheduled for release later this fall via Despotz Records/Playground Music. Prior to the release they've unveiled the first single "Another Sun", which is due for proper single release on August 29 but is available for listening right now. Check it out below.
Little over a month ago Patterson Hood unveiled the gorgeous "Come Back Little Star", the lead single from his upcoming record Heat Lightning Rumbles In The Distance and now a second track has been released. The track is called "Better Off Without" and sees Hood revisiting many of the same lyrical themes that have permeated much of his work. But that's all for the better. Give it a listen below.
