It's been pretty quiet around Earl Sweatshirt, arguably the most talented rapper in the Odd Future crew, for awhile but now he has returned with a brand new track titled "Chum" - and it's a very good one. Check it out below.
Portland-based folk rock act Balto released their latest EP Monuments in September, and it's one of the finest folk releases of the year. Now Balto are offering it up as a free, or rather pay-what-you-want, download for two days (today and tomorrow) on their Bandcamp page. Highly recommended.
This has been out since early September but I'm slow sometimes, and this is very good. Stockholm dream pop act Postiljonen is one of the finest new bands coming out of Stockholm right now and judging by the four tracks on their Soundcloud page they've got a lot of potential.
Last week they opened for The Sound Of Arrows and next weekend they'll be supporting Wild Nothing (details here) so chances are more people will be noticing them soon. Their newest single "We Raise Our Hearts" is available for listening below - it's a great piece of dream pop, with distinct Scandinavian sound - reminiscent of a mix of M83 and World Tour. Remember the name.
Back in September we posted Crushed Beaks' upcoming single "Breakdown" which is due on November 5 via ASL Records together with the b-side "Horror Shorts". Today the London duo released the video for "Breakdown" and like their last video - the one for "Grim" - it's inspired by classic horror movies. Check it out below.

New Orleans-rapper Curren$y is almost too productive for his own good - it's pretty much impossible to keep up, especially as almost everything he releases is top quality. He's already got two proper full-lengths; Muscle Car Chronicles and The Stoned Immaculate and a few EPs out this year but today he unveiled a brand new mixtape titled Priest Andretti. And as usual it's very good. Listen to it below and download it for free.
Malmö-based indie act YAST, one of Sweden's absolute finest young bands for the past year, released their third single "Stupid" a couple of weeks back. "Stupid" is taken from the band's upcoming debut record, which is due sometime next year, and like like their previous singles it's a wonderful piece of dreamy indie rock. Today DIY premiered the video for the track as well, check it out below.
Kendrick Lamar released his major label debut LP good kid, m.A.A.d city last week to pretty much universal acclaim, and it's quite deserved as it's a brilliant record. New Zealand indie pop act The Ruby Suns are set to release their fourth album Christopher via Sub Pop/Memphis Industries on January 28/29 next year and yesterday the first track from the LP was unveiled. The track in question is "Kingfisher Call Me", a great experimental pop track that sounds closer to Yeasayer than anything else. You may remember us posting about Stoke-on-Trent garage psych outfit Bong Idle back in July when we posted "Umbungo" from their debut EP Night Of The Living Blunt.
