Listen: The Mary Onettes - "Evil Coast"


The Mary Onettes released one of this year's finest pop EPs with Love Forever in February via Labrador Records. Now the band have unveiled their new single "Evil Coast", which is taken from their upcoming third studio record Hit The Waves (due in February next year on Labrador). Check out the radio edit of "Evil Coast" below. We can't wait for the full album here at BNF.

Watch: Simian Ghost - "Autumn Slowmo (For The Dejected Realist)" (official video)


Sandviken indie pop act Simian Ghost released the excellent Youth in February/March via Nomethod Records/Heist Or Hit Records and today they're unveiling the first new material since that release in the form of the nearly nine minutes long stand-alone single "Autumn Slowmo (For The Dejected Realist)".

Listen: Iberia - "An Ending (Ascent)" + "A Finale"


The Berlin-based Swedish duo Iberia consists of Alexander Palemstål from Pistol Disco and Maja Mathé Milner from Makthaverskan. Early last month it was unveiled that the duo had signed to Hybris, one of Sweden's finest record labels, and today they're releasing their new double A-sided single  "An Ending (Ascent)"/"A Finale". Eddi Front's self-titled debut EP was released via Best Fit Recordings last week and while we've previously posted each of its four tracks individually they're good enough to warrant a "full album stream" post as well. Eddi Front is due on 10" vinyl in mid-November (which is kinda now, so any day now) and you can pre-order it over here. Listen to it below.

Full album stream: Captain Murphy - Du∆lity [mixtape]


As we've previously mentioned Captain Murphy's debut mixtape Du∆lity was due yesterday and it's actually here. There's been a lot of speculation about who's behind the Captain Murphy moniker and names like Flying Lotus, Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler, The Creator has been mentioned: I'm not sure if there's been any more clarity on it but I don't really care - the mixtape is good. MP3: Memory Tapes - "Neighborhood Watch"


In early October we got the first taste from Memory Tapes' upcoming LP Grace/Confusion in "Sheila" and today a second track titled "Neighborhood Watch" premiered over on Stereogum - and like "Sheila" it's a good one. Grace/Confusion is due on December 4 via Carpark Records and until then you can enjoy "Neighborhood Watch" below.

Listen: Chad Valley - "Like No Other" (Trophy Wife cover)


Chad Valley sure keeps busy. He recently released his debut LP Young Hunger via Cascine/Loose Lips and now he's set to release a split EP with Oxford indie pop act Trophy Wife which includes one original from each act, which the other act then covers. The EP is titled Tell All Your Friends / Like No Other and it takes it's name from the two contributions, of which Chad Valley provides "Tell All Tour Friends" which is taken off the aforementioned Young Hunger. Trophy Wife contributes the brand new "Like No Other" and you can listen to Chad Valley's take on it - and head over here to listen to the full EP.

Listen: Amateur Best - "Too Much"



Joe Flory, aka Amateur Best, released his latest single "Ready For The Good Life" in early October and now he's back with a new single "Too Much" - the first track from his upcoming debut LP. "Too Much" is due for release on limited 7" on January 14 prior to the release of No Thrills, the aforementioned debut LP, on February 4. No Thrills also happens to be the first full-length release on London's finest Double Denim Records - one of the most exciting labels in the business at the moment. Listen to "Too Much" below (hint: it's kinda great).

MP3: Last Lynx - "Killing Switch"


Stockholm pop act Last Lynx released their debut EP Alaska late last year (I think) for free via their Soundcloud and it's been one of those rare EPs that have stayed in rotation since release around here. Now they're releasing their brand new single "Killing Switch" via their new label SoFo Records and you can listen to it below.

Listen: inc. - "5 Days"



Los Angeles duo inc., consisting of brothers Daniel and Andrew Aged, are set to release their debut full-length No World via 4AD on February 19 next year. The brothers have years of session and touring experience behind them, working with artists such as Pharrell Williams, Beck and Elton John, but it's only recently they've focused on their own project full time. In October they unveiled the first track from No World"The Place", and today they followed it with brand new track "5 Days", a brilliantly beautiful r'n'b track. Check it out below.

Watch: Parakeet - "Shonen Hearts" (official video)


A couple of weeks back we posted a stream of the debut EP from Yuck side-project Parakeet. The EP is titled Shonen Hearts and it's out now digitally with a physical release due on November 19. Today the Maria Cecilia-directed video for EP title track "Shonen Hearts" was released and you can watch it below, plus make sure to listen to the full EP if you haven't yet.

Listen: Birdskulls - "Mispresume"


London label Art Is Hard Records just keeps on delivering. Now they've announced their next release; the debut single from British grunge pop trio Birdskulls. The "Mispresume"/"Rolling Tongue" single is due on December 17 on cassette (plus you'll get a knitted hat for the winter) and it's the first official release from the Brighton/Bournemouth/Exeter three-piece who's previously shared a few tracks on their Soundcloud page (including the demo for "Mispresume"). "Mispresume" premiered on Neu/DIY arlier today and you can listen to it in all its catchy and '90s indebted glory below.

Listen: Den Stora Vilan - "Anton"


Den Stora Vilan are set to release their second LP Förvandlingen on December 5 via Gaphals and in June two of the eight tracks was unveiled on the 7" single for "Förvandlingen" and "För Långt Ut". Now they've released a second single from the LP for album opener "Anton", which you can check out below.

MP3: Widowspeak - "Ballad Of The Golden Hour"


Captured Tracks' Widowspeak have announced the release of their second LP Almanac for January 22.  Almanac was recorded with Kevin McMahon whose previous credits include Real Estate, The Walkmen and Swans. Today Pitchfork premiered the first track from the LP; the almost alt. country-ish "Ballad Of The Golden Hour". Check it out below.

MP3: The Henry Clay People - "EveryBandWeEverLoved"


Los Angeles rockers and BNF favourites The Henry Clay People released one of our favourite (duh) releases of the first half of 2012 in their latest LP Twenty-Five For The Rest Of Our Lives via TBD Records. They recently announced a December residency at The Satellite in Los Angeles where they'll be recording a live album to benefit the Songs For Kids Foundation and to promote the residency they've shared "EveryBandWeEverLoved", from Twenty-Five For The Rest Of Our Lives, as a free download. Check it out below.

MP3: Young Dreams - "Fog Of War" (Korallreven remix)


We've previously posted Norwegian psych pop act Young Dreams' latest single "Fog Of War", taken from their upcoming debut LP which is due next year via Modular. While recently on tour with label mates Tame Impala they released the "Fog Of War" single which included remixes of the track from Baio, Lemonade and Korallreven. You can listen to the remix from Swedish duo Korallreven (responsible for one of last year's best LPs in their debut An Album By Korallreven) below.

Full album stream: Johnny Foreigner - NAMES EP


UK indie rock act Johnny Foreigner recently released their new EP NAMES via Alcopop in the UK and Swerp in the US. The releases contain three tracks each, but one of the tracks differ; "O When Will This Honeymoon End?" is included in the US and "Killing In The Name" in the US, but you can listen to all four tracks below. Great stuff.

Watch: Cold Pumas - "Sherry Island" (official video)


Brighton act Cold Pumas released their debut LP Persistent Malaise last Monday via Faux Discx, Gringo Records (the two responsible for the excellent Sauna Youth LP earlier this fall) and Italian Beach Babes. The full LP is available for listening over at the Faux Discx Bandcamp page and below you can watch the video for Cold Pumas' "Sherry Island", made by Phil Whitby and directed by Patrick Fisher.

Australian indie act PVT are set to release their fourth LP Homosapien which is due soon on Felte Records and they're currently on tour supporting Bloc Party in Europe, with a stop at Debaser Medis in Stockholm on Monday next week. Yesterday PVT unveiled the new video for Homosapien lead single "Nightfalls" and you can watch the '80s indebted clip below. For full details on the Stockholm gig head over here.

Watch: Great Lake Swimmers - "The Great Exhale" (official video)


Canadian folk rock band Great Lake Swimmers released their latest fifth record New Wild Everywhere back in April via Nettwerk. On Sunday they're playing Debaser Slussen here in Stockholm together with Dusted and I'm playing records before and after the bands (details here). A few weeks back Great Lake Swimmers unveiled their latest video from New Wild Everywhere for "The Great Exhale". Check it out below.

MP3: Jim James - "Know Til Now"


My Morning Jacket leader Jim James released a George Harrison covers EP titled Tribute To back in 2009 under the name Yim Yames and since then his debut solo LP has been "coming soon". And now it actually is. On February 5 next year ATO Records will release James' solo debut Regions Of Light And Sound Of God and today the first track from it was unveiled; "Know Til Now". "Know Til Now" is more reminiscent of the more experimental side of recent My Morning Jacket projects than the acoustic folk of Tribute To. Listen: Veronica Falls - "Teenage"


Last time we heard from Veronica Falls was in March with their brilliant single "My Heart Beats" and now they're back with new single "Teenage", the first track from their upcoming second LP. The album, titled Waiting For Something To Happen, is due on February 13 next year via Bella Union/Slumberland Records. It can't be February soon enough. Listen to it below.

Friday November 16: Popaganda: Twin Shadow + Saint Lou Lou at Hornstull Strand
This Friday there’s a lot going on in Stockholm; we’ve got Niki & The Dove, Simian Ghost, Mark Kozelek, a ”secret” club gig by Rihanna and more, but this week’s pick is the double-bill of Twin Shadow and rising pop act Saint Lou Lou at Hornstull Strand. Twin Shadow doesn’t need a presentation and Saint Lou Lou released their brilliant debut single ”Maybe You” in late August via Kitsuné.
