London-based indie rock act Loom's debut track "Bleed On Me" premiered on NME earlier this week, and on Monday their debut EP, also titled Bleed On Me, is set to be released on cassette via BNF favourites Heart Throb Records. "Bleed On Me" lies somewhere between catchy '80s punk and Nirvana's noisier moments, and it's very very good. Check it out below and head over here to pre-order your very own limited cassette.
We've previously posted three tracks from Sydney-based twenty-year-old producer Flume; "Holdin On", "Sleepless" and "Star Eyes" - the last of which we only posted this morning - and here we go again. Now we've got Flume's self-titled debut LP available for listening in full - and it's a definite keeper.
First of all, this is my introduction to New York psychedelic act Psychic Ills, but they've been working together since the beginning of 2003 and last year they released Hazed Dreams on Sacred Bones. On February 19 they'll be releasing their new album One Track Mind, again via Sacred Bones, and they've now unveiled the first single from it; "Might Take A While", which sounds like (to use the words of my friend Colin Joyce over at Beats Per Minute) a mix of Spiritualized and The Velvet Underground. See for yourselves.
Mike Cooley's been writing great songs for almost a decade and a half with Drive-By Truckers now, acting as the less productive partner of the over-productive Patterson Hood. Fans have long awaited his debut solo release and on December 11 his debut record The Fool On Every Corner will be released.
A while back we posted two tracks from twenty-year-old Australian producer Flume; "Holdin On" and "Sleepless". Flume recently released his self-titled debut LP in Australia via Future Classic and the LP is due for US and UK release early next year, with Transgressive in charge of the UK release (due on February 18). Now Flume has shared another track; the equally impressive "Star Eyes". Listen below.
Mac DeMarco released his excellent debut LP 2 in October via Captured Tracks and earlier this week he did a great show here in Stockholm for Fritz's Corner. A couple of days back he also unveiled the video for "Ode To Viceroy", his tribute to a cheap Canadian cigarette brand, and as usual when it comes to DeMarco it's a moderately weird one. Watch it below.
My only experience with Los Angeles producer Goldroom prior to hearing this track is his admittedly brilliant remix of Niki & The Dove's "Mother Protect". Today he unveiled a new track titled "Sweetness Alive" which features Swedish/Australian sister duo Saint Lou Lou on vocals, and if you've been reading this blog for the past few months you've hardly been able to miss that we're big fans of them. Listen to "Sweetness Alive" below.
The Babies released their second LP Our House On The Hill earlier this month on Woodsist and we've previously posted "Moonlight Mile" and "Alligator" from it. Today the video for the Cassie Ramone-led "Baby" premiered and you can watch it below.
Mysterious Stockholm act Shadow Shadow originally released their debut excellent track "Riviera" back in June but now it looks like they've signed to Swedish artist collective and label INGRID (run by Lykke Li, Peter Bjorn And John etc.) or at the very least INGRID's sister-company INGMAR, an "artist services" company which also looks after El Perro Del Mar, I Break Horses and more. To coincide with the signing they've re-released "Riviera" and you can listen to it below, or get your very own mp3 of it by 'liking' Shadow Shadow on Facebook.
Earlier this year we've posted Stockholm rapper Elliphant's three first singles; "In The Jungle", the Adam Kanyama-featuring "TeKKno Scene" and "Ciant Hear It". Last month she released her self-titled debut EP here in Sweden and on January 14 it'll be released internationally via A Bigger Splash and earlier this week a fourth single was released; the dancehall-influenced "Down On Life" which you can check out below.
A couple of weeks back Veronica Falls unveiled their new single "Teenage" while announcing their second LP Waiting For Something To Happen for a February 13 release next year on Bella Union/Slumberland. Today they released the video for the track as well, check it out below.
Swedish indie pop act Shout Out Louds are set to release their fourth album Optica in February next year and today the first single from the album premiered. Check out "Blue Ice" below (as premiered on Best Fit), or download it in exchange for a 'like' on their Facebook page. Kinda reminds me of a poppier Scandinavian The National. Huh.
Chad Valley recently released his debut LP Young Hunger via Cascine/Loose Lips and now he's unveiled the new video for his latest single from the album; "Tell All Your Friends". On Wednesday next week Chad Valley is coming to Stockholm to perform at Debaser Slussen, details here. Until then, watch the video below.
A week and a half back we posted The Mary Onettes' brilliant new single "Evil Coast", the first track taken from their upcoming third record Hit The Waves. Hit The Waves, on which the band worked with producer Dan Lissvik, is due on March 12 next year via Labrador Records and the "Evil Coast" single is officially released today, and the video for it just premiered on The Guardian. Watch it below.
Liverpool trio Stealing Sheep released their debut record Into The Diamond Sun earlier this year via Heavenly Recordings, and it's one of the finest folk records of the year. Now Stealing Sheep have unveiled the video for their new single "Rearrange", taken from the Into The Diamond Sun. Watch it below.
Berlin-based Norwegian pop songstress Sandra Kolstad released her latest record (Nothing Lasts) Forever in late September on Trust Me and back in August we posted her single "The Well (We Will Change It All)". Now she's back with a new video for "Circles (It's Got Every Little Part Of Me Running In)", made by Steffan Løssfelt and Jens Fougner, which you can watch below.
Stockholm duo Ditt Inre are set to release their new single "Inget Val"/"Din Röst" via Cascine on December 11, following their debut EP En Värld I Brand which was released in May (also on Cascine). Today the a-side of the single; "Inget Val", was unveiled and it's yet another excellent dream pop track from the duo. Check it out below.
We've previously posted two tracks from Solen's self-titled debut LP; "Bär Mig" and "Mörkt Ljus", and while we haven't had a release date for the record earlier they've now gone and sneak-released it on Spotify. If you don't have Spotify you can listen to it below as well, and you should. It's one of the best Swedish indie rock records I've heard in a long time.
London r'n'b duo Xander The Great released their debut mixtape Royal Blood earlier this year and now they've unveiled two new and absolutely brilliant tracks; "Lock Her Down" and the demo version of "Somewhere Tonight". "Somewhere Tonight" is probably my favourite. Check out both below - highly recommended for fans of Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, insert-your-favourite-r'n'b-artist-here.
Chromatics have unveiled a brand new track titled "Cherry", taken from the Italians Do It Better compilation After Dark 2 from which we've already heard "Looking For Love". Check it out below, and keep you eye out for the video which is due "in a few hours".
