Listen: Widowspeak - "The Dark Age"


A month ago Widowspeak announced the release of their second LP Almanac with "Ballad Of The Golden Hour" and now they've unveiled a second track titled "The Dark Age". Almanac is due on January 22 via Captured Tracks and you can listen to "The Dark Age" below.

MP3: Brolin - "Another Year"


Brolin's excellent debut single "NYC" was finally officially released last month on National Anthem Records and earlier this week he unveiled a brand new track titled "Another Year" as a free download. Brolin will release his debut EP via BNF-favourites Double Denim Records next spring, but until we've got more info you can enjoy "Another Year" below, plus "NYC" if you've not heard it yet.

Listen: Faye - "Silent"


Faye's been releasing a string of great singles in the past year and if you've kept up you'll know what I'm talking about. If you haven't; give "Water Against The Rocks", "Come To Me", "Mad Dog" and "Breathe Out" a listen. Yesterday she unveiled a fifth track titled "Silent" which, like "Mad Dog", isn't a proper single but just something to keep people listening, and it samples The Knife's "Silent Shout". It's great pop track, as expected, so give it a listen below.

MP3: Alex Calder - "Suki And Me"


Alex Calder is the latest signing to Captured Tracks' impressive roster and his debut EP Time is due on March 26 next year. Calder is the former drummer of Makeout Videotape, in which fellow Captured Tracks signee Mac DeMarco also played, and yesterday the first track from Time was unveiled. Check out "Suki And Me" below.

Listen: Ditt Inre - "Din Röst"


A couple of weeks back Ditt Inre unveiled their new single "Inget Val", following their debut EP En Värld I Brand which was released earlier this year. The single is out today via Cascine and now you can listen to the brilliant b-side "Din Röst" as well - and it might just be even better than the a-side.

PINS released their excellent debut EP LuvU4Lyf on Bella Union earlier this fall and now they've unveiled a brand new seasonal track, perfect for your Christmas listening. It's titled "Kiss Me Quickly (It's Christmas)" and you can listen to and download it below.

How To Dress Well released his second LP Total Loss back in September via Acéphale/Weird World, and as it stands now it's probably my favourite record of the year. Today he unveiled the video for the excellent "& It Was U", watch it below.

Watch: Flamingods - "Quesso" (official video)

In late October Lonond indie pop quintet Flamingods unveiled "Quesso", the first single from their upcoming debut LP Sun. Sun is due on January 21 next year via Art Is Hard Records and last week the video for "Quesso" was released as well. Check it out below. It's a bit weird.

A couple of weeks back we posted UK grunge pop trio Birdskulls' excellent debut single "Mispresume", which is due next week on the ever-excellent Art Is Hard Records. Today the b-side of the single was made available for listening as well, and you can give it a listen below.

Interview: The Soft Pack


San Diego garage rock act The Soft Pack released their second LP Strapped in September on Mexican Summer. In October the band finished up a North American tour in support of the album, and in January they're heading to Europe in support of it. We asked The Soft Pack leader Matt Lamkin a few quick questions over email ahead of the tour.

As we've previously reported Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit releaseded their first full-length live record; Live From Alabama, on Lightning Rod Records. The LP was recorded in August this year while on tour and features cuts from Isbell's solo catalogue, his time with Drive-By Truckers as well as a cover of Neil Young's "Like A Hurricane". Listen to the full album below.

MP3: Mikky Ekko - "Pull Me Down"


Mikky Ekko, real name John Stephen Sudduth, is set to release his debut LP next year and in October he released his official debut single; "Pull Me Down" - which is absolutely wonderful. "Pull Me Down" is co-produced by Ekko and acclaimed hip-hop producer Clams Casino (who's worked with The Weeknd, Lil B, A$AP Rocky etc.), and Casino will also produce parts of Ekko's upcoming debut LP. Check out "Pull Me Down" below, as well as Ryan Hemsworth's remix of the track.

Watch: Sonjagon - "Below The Sea"


Stockholm indie rock act Sonjagon released their debut LP Arches in 2009 and we've since been waiting for the follow-up. A few months back they shared two new demos for "Below The Sea" and "Gondor" and yesterday an excellent session video with "Below The Sea" was unveiled by Kvalität. Check out the video below, plus stream both demos.
